Defining "Microinsurance": Thoughts for a journey towards a common understanding

ByMolly Ingram, and Michael McCord
23 June 2011

This Discussion Paper is a draft that developed from an effort to compile various definitions of microinsurance to be used to facilitate a working session at the Microinsurance Network's June 2011 member meeting in Königstein. The paper works to highlight the benefits and challenges of defining microinsurance by establishing different types of definitions that have been used over the past decade. It is hoped that members' comments will help the paper to evolve into something that might be helpful to the broader microinsurance world. All comments are welcome.
