Towards Inclusive Insurance in Thailand: An Analysis of the Market and Regulations

The Government of Thailand clearly supports the dramatic expansion of microinsurance throughout the Country. Efforts to expand the involvement of the commercial sector in terms of both risk takers and distribution channels while improving the infrastructure for microinsurance can help to improve the potential for achievement of the targets of the 20102014 Financial Sector Master Plan, as well as help to secure the future stability of millions of Thai households. This report has identified gaps, opportunities, and potential next steps regarding the supply, demand, and regulation of microinsurance in Thailand.
